Rope Lights

Rope lights are strands of lights which are enclosed in a flexible plastic casing, causing them to resemble strands of rope. They are often made with light emitting diodes (LEDs), rather than light bulbs. They are extremely common in holiday displays. Rope lights can also be used at various times of the year. A common use for rope is used in holiday decorations and yard displays during the holiday months.
One of the main advantages in using rope lights is that they can usually be used outside in inclement conditions, because the lights are protected by the rubber casing that they are constructed from. They are very flexible and extremely durable. Rope lights can be arranged in a wide variety of ways. The retail business uses rope lights to outline window displays or to bedeck the eaves of their buildings. The characteristic that makes rope light effective is its smooth even look. Rope light can also be wrapped around trees and power poles, or strung along pathways.
Led’s are generally preferable to light bulbs because they tend to last longer, and they can be colored with an electronic computer chip. LEDs are also very easy to program, for people who want to create chasing or blinking patterns. Rope lights are quite durable, withstanding shocks and repeated on-off cycles.
Most rope lights come in basic white, and various other colors such as blue, green, red, purple, & orange. There are a few manufacturers that make strings with multiple colors, or ropes that can cycle through an assortment of colors when they are programmed to do so. The rope is generally around the width of a thumb. Thicker versions are available for projects when an extremely thin rope light might not be visible.
