Dimmable Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

The dimmable compact fluorescent bulb has been a highly sought after item in lighting for years.  They have also been a little difficult to use in all applications. TCP now has their latest line of spirals and reflectors available with the highest lumen output, 8,000-10,000 hours and a smooth and uniform dimming system. These bulbs are available for purchase through the sales department and will be available online very soon.

High Wattage Incandescent Replacements?

DallasLightbulb.com is trying to keep up with demmands from consumers regarding replacement bulbs for the high wattage BR30 and BR40 incandescent reflector. As you may know the US government & the EPA have banned the manufacturing of high wattage incandescents. Here is more information to reference.

Incandescent lights

Under the law, incandescent bulbs that produce 310–2600 lumens of light are effectively phased out between 2012 and 2014. Bulbs outside this range (roughly, light bulbs currently less than 40 watts or more than 150 watts) are exempt from the ban. Also exempt are several classes of speciality lights, including appliance lamps, “rough service” bulbs, 3-way, colored lamps, and plant lights.

The phase-out of incandescent light bulbs was supported by the Alliance to Save Energy, a coalition of light bulb manufacturers, electric utilities and conservation groups. The group estimated that lighting accounts for 22% of total U.S. electricity usage, and that eliminating incandescent bulbs completely would save $18 billion per year (equivalent to the output of 80 coal plants. Light bulb manufacturers also hoped a single national standard would prevent the enactment of conflicting bans and efficiency standards by state governments.(courtesy of Wikepedia)

Some Affected Lamp Types:

50WattR20, 75WattR20, 75WattER30, 120WattER30, 90Watt, 100Watt, 120Watt, 120Watt R40&BR40, 75Watt 100Watt 150watt BPAR(Blown Par)

DallasLightBulb.com has replacements for the 75Watt-85Watt BR30 & the “standard true 120Watt BR40 ” Reflector Bulb:

If you still need the 120Watt BR or 40 we have them as well.

If you are wanting to “GO GREEN” !!! Take alook at our CFL (compact fluorescent bulbs) :

All for now.

Christmas Lights

Posted on Monday, October 19, 2009 in Christmas Lights, Energy Saving, Holiday Lights, LED, Residential Lighting

Did you know there are only 65 days left until Christmas? If you put your lights up after Thanksgiving and take them down around March you will normally turn your lights on for about 35 days a year. it is never too early to order your lights. The earlier you order the better the supply and the less you will pay for them. If you are one of the last minute type you may be out of luck this year getting your lights if you wait too long. On another note consider using LED this year. The warm white are very close to the incandescents and the pricing is coming down.

High Power LED Products Are Impressive

Posted on Friday, April 17, 2009 in Energy Saving, Environment, LED

I recently attended a lighting conference. The purpose of the conference was to introduce high powered LED products to the commercial and industrial  lighting market. There were a variety of products that piqued my interest. For instance, a common light bulb used by many is a 32watt T8 fluorescent light tube. A sample of the new technology presented at the conference was a T8 self-powered 4ft LED tube light (no ballast required to operate). The other extroadinary fact was that the tube used a total of 24 watts. WOW!! This tube light was impressive!! The product comes in a variety of sizes currently available. The sizes are as follows: a T10 4ft  light tube, a T8 2ft light tube, &  a T8 6ft light tube. Furthermore, demmand is growing on production requests, which means more types of high powered LED products are comming soon.

Some of the other highlights of the show were high powered LED roadway and streetlight fixtures. Can you imagine having a city street or a roadway being illuminated by several tiny little light sources that consume a small amount of electrical power? These high powered LED’s will provide the same amount of light output as a 150watt, 250watt, or 400watt  high pressure sodium light bulb. Amazing!!!

I could go on and on about the wonderful earth friendly products that are being introduced in the lighting market. With the vast amounts of new products being produced daily, I would never be able to catch up.

I was totally blown away with how far technology has advanced in the lighting industry. Will the LED be the “next wave of the future” ? That’s not for me to determine. I can tell you this, the high powered LED lighting products being manufactured and the new technology advances on the horizon will certainly change the way the world uses energy. That my friends will  benefit all of us and it will also help make the earth a better place.

All for now….
